1. In a few sentences or less, please describe what you look for in a mate. Start at initial attraction & go from there.
“In an ideal mate initial attraction would be physical (I think men are built that way). More important than skin tone and physical “attributes” is how well she is presented (hair, nails, outfit) I like a woman with style. The rest falls in to place. I do prefer them pretty (and that encompasses too much to write out but we all know it when we see it) Physically I’m attracted to fit-thick to just plain old country-thick. Has to be witty and get my sense of humor, open to try new things (food, movies, thoughts on life). Intelligence is a must. I need our conversations to extend beyond reality television and get on some real thought provoking stuff.
2. What are your current dating goals? What are you looking for?
“My dating goals are an amalgam of different things. I really want too much. Probably has a lot to do with my lack of self confidence in my youth because I was (and still am) a bigger guy. I really want to meet a woman who isn’t bound by the ideas that society has placed on a relationship and is really open to allowing things to move organically. I say that knowing I am dating a girl who isn’t from the south and is perfectly okay with it taking upwards of a year before it’s a “relationship” and honestly it’s not what I’m accustomed to. I want a woman that supports me and my efforts, allows me to be a man (whatever that REALLY means) and that I can just be around and not get annoyed with too much thought over what’s next…honestly who knows what’s next except God, you have to maximize the value of the present day because pushing too hard for tomorrow you’ll miss the moment. (rant)”
3. Why do you think you are currently single?
“I think part of the original reason I was/am single is because I am insatiable, it is very difficult to “please” me long term and in my youth I was very dismissive. More recently I would say because I don’t feel confined by what society has constructed us to think. As a christian society we make a big deal out of marriage but just the same in the bible it says that it is okay to not be married. (I can try to find the passage). Anyway, I just let go of the idea that I had to have performed X,Y, or Z by a certain age and that would define me. I learned it in college/ grad school/ my career and now my dating life. If a woman comes along and FINALLY makes me feel well enough about her to “put a ring on it” then, hey that’s what I’ll do.”
Thank you Dewayne.
